７１歳の誕生日 皇太子さま発言に「大変驚き」
天皇陛下は２３日、７１歳の誕生日を迎えられた。１８日におばにあたる高松宮妃喜久子さまが亡くなり２２日まで喪に服していたため、恒例の会見は取りやめたが、宮内記者会の質問に文書で回答した。皇太子ご夫妻に対しては「２人の生活に安定と明るさがもたらされることを願っています」と気遣った。
皇太子さまが今年５月の記者会見で、静養を続けている皇太子妃雅子さまについて「キャリアや人格を否定するような動きがあったことも事実」などと発言したことに、陛下は「私としても初めて聞く内容で大変驚き、『動き』という重い言葉を伴った発言であったため、国民への説明を求めました」と振り返った。発言内容については「まだ私に十分に理解しきれぬところがあり、こうした段階での細かい言及は控えたい」とした。
