ードで１７歳２カ月のマリア・シャラポワ（ロシア）が、第１シードで
３連覇を狙ったセリーナ・ウィリアムズ（米国）を６−１、６−４で降
し、４大大会初優勝を果たし、優勝賞金５６万５００ポンド（約１
億１３００万円）を獲得した。
